All Band Members are required to attend. THIS IS THE WEEK WE DO THE MOST WORK ON OUR SHOW, It is very important parents, that you do not schedule any event that conflicts with this camp schedule. (e.g. work, doctor/dentist appointments, vacations, etc.)

What should I bring to camp? (see below)

1. Your instrument (in playing condition, if it doesn’t work get it fixed!)

2. Sunscreen (at least 30 spf)

3. Water cooler . Your cooler should be 1 gallon in size. Check Wal-Mart, Fred’s, etc.

4. A flip folder (get one before you get here or bring $5 to purchase one when you get here.)

5. A lyre (to hold your music, check The Saxophone Place.)

6. A pencil (when you hear “mark it!” you will be able to do so.)

7. 1 pack of Mason jar lids (not the rings. Number them 1-10 and put your initials on them.)

Extra items to bring:

All students - 1 pack of Gatorade/Powerade mix (flavor of choice)

The size of the can or bag should say 3lb. 3oz or 3lb.7.7 oz size.

What should I wear to camp?

1. Hat/visor (for outside only!)

2. Athletic shoes (absolutely no flip flops, sandals, etc. for marching rehearsals. This includes guard too! If we aren’t marching, you can wear them.

3. Socks (we don’t want blisters!)

4. Sunscreen (at least 30 spf)

5. Sunglasses (cheap ones will do!)

6. Loose Comfortable Clothes (you know its going to be hot! So dress accordingly. No jeans! Or Black Pants! There I said it!)

7. Drink water before you come to rehearsal and when you get home from rehearsal. (you can’t learn if you are laying out on the sideline, take care of yourself!)

Fees for this year will be as follows:

Band camp fee: $20 (all students)

Band fee: $70/year or $35 per semester (parents if you have two students in high school band your fees will be $50 per year per student).

Gloves: black cotton - $4, black sure grip - $5 (each student should purchase a minimum of two pair of gloves.)

Shoes: black band shoe - $30

Garment bag: $15

Guard gloves: $14

t-shirt: tba

Of these fees, the band camp fee ($20) and the first semester band fee ($35) are due by Friday July 31st.

If you are paying by check, please have a separate check for each. (make these checks payable to: IAHS band.) Please do not combine the band camp fee and the 1st semester band fee (they have to be deposited into two separate accounts.) And parents if you wish, you may pay for the whole year’s fee during this week.

We will be ordering shoes, gloves, garment bags, guard gloves, etc. on FRIDAY JULY 24th at 12:30 pm.

This is different from previous years, we are ordering BEFORE FULL CAMP. That means you will have to come up here on Friday to order your stuff. Bring your cash/checks today to pay for your stuff.

When paying for gloves, shoes, bags, etc. you may pay with cash or check only.

Please make checks payable to: Danny Blurton

We look forward to seeing everybody at camp! If there is any new stuff you need to know check the website!

PARENTS: IF YOU OWN AN OUTSIDE CANOPY/TENT, WE NEED TO BORROW TWO OR THREE TO USE FOR CAMP. WE DON’T HAVE ANY SHADE ON OUR FIELD AND WE NEED TO PROVIDE SOME FOR THE STUDENTS. 10’ X 10’’S OR 12’ X 12’S WILL BE FINE. WE WOULD ALSO, WELCOME A “DONATION” OF A LARGER ONE FOR MARCHING CONTESTS, IF ANY ONE WOULD LIKE TO DO SO.

ALSO, IF ANY PARENT OR GROUP OF PARENTS WOULD LIKE TO PROVIDE REFRESHMENTS OR SNACKS AFTER ANY REHEARSAL, FEEL FREE TO DO SO. (I.E. POPSICLES, ICE CREAM, SPORTS DRINKS, ETC. / ENOUGH FOR 90 PEOPLE.) JUST LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU WANT TO DO IT.

Have a great summer, See you in three weeks!!!
